I see. I will consider as well the LSI 9240 RAID Card

I will try to use the RAID 1 first or RAID 5 later, hence a stable RAID is preferred.

This is the reason why I would like expert opinion on the use of the Hardware RAID vs Software RAID

The RAID card from above source is not expensive so it is worthwhile to consider

2. they only support up to 2TB HDDs

Better buy LSI 9261-8i from taobao for around RMB700, or you may find some cheaper OEM versions.
