Volkswagen Recalls Multiple Models

Herndon, VA – Volkswagen considers the safety and satisfaction of its consumers and passengers a top priority. As such, Volkswagen of America today notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that it will be issuing a voluntary safety recall affecting the fuel rail on certain 2015 Golf and Golf GTI models and certain 2014 and 2015 model year Beetle, Beetle Convertible, Jetta, and Passat vehicles equipped with the 1.8T and 2.0T four-cylinder engines.
The recall affects approximately 37,970 Volkswagen vehicles: Golf and Golf GTI models from the 2015 model year and Volkswagen Beetle, Beetle Convertible, Jetta, and Passat vehicles from the 2014 and 2015 model years. It is possible that a sealing cap on the fuel rail may fail to seal, thus allowing fuel to leak into the engine compartment. Leaking fuel, in the presence of an ignition source, may result in a fire.
To fix the issue, Volkswagen will notify all known owners of affected vehicles and will inspect and, if necessary, replace the fuel rail. This work will be performed for customers free of charge.
No accidents or injuries related to this issue have been reported. Volkswagen will notify all owners of affected vehicles and will instruct them to arrange for an appointment with an authorized Volkswagen dealer.
