東京都交通局和東京地鐵公司決定由下月 起 (12月2014)，東京143個主要地鐵車站內，所有乘客都能免費無線上網。
東京都政府說，在地鐵向乘客提供免費網絡服務，是為了應對2020年東京奧運會時，會有大批外國遊客來訪，東京的巴士稍後亦會提供相同免費上網服務。
無線網絡由NTTBP公司提供，只要登錄「Japan Connected-free Wi-Fi」的App，就能免費在地鐵上網。每次使用時間不超過三小時，但每天使用次數不限。
東京都政府經營的地鐵，SSID是「Toei_Subway_Free_Wi-Fi」﹔東京地鐵公司經營的地鐵的SSID則是「Metro_Free_Wi-Fi」。
