我隻5bay syno就係因為轉harddisk,個raid5x5 hdd搞左2-3日。
仲要幾隻大hard disk做臨時storage。
所以之後打死都唔再用raid,因為可以一隻一隻獨立處理,

I would say, besides CPU speed :
For standard OS (Windows, ESX, Linux etc) and standard hardware, Gen 8 is much easier to setup because it can be installed through HP's Intelligent Provisioning. It's the advanced version of SmartStart and you can install a standard OS in a fast and dummy way, together with all necessary HP drivers and management tools.
But if you want to PLAY with the server, say installing Synology OS, or trying to boot from specific HDD (not the default first HDD), or having Hot-Plug support, or trying to add extra HDDs/SSDs etc... N54L/N40L is much more flexible because the modified BIOS is incredible....
